We Are Church is calling for an Assembly of the people of God in Ireland to
propose new Structures for the Catholic Church that will include lay
Catholics in all decision-making.
The Assembly will be inclusive, involving all lay Catholics, ecclesiastical
organisations, priests and bishops.
In the wake of Pope Francis' visit to Ireland and the scandals in the US
hierarchy it is necessary to develop church structures that are transparent,
that ensure accountability at all levels and that enable all Baptized adult
Catholics to have a voice in decision making.
“Every human organization needs checks and balances. And every
baptized adult Catholic needs to be heard and represented” said Colm
Holmes.
