WAC venue change for Minister Josepha Madigan after Mercy International Centre threatened with protestors

WAC greatly regret the threats by protestors that led to Mercy International Centre withdrawing the meeting room booked for Minister Josepha Madigan to address WAC members on “Why the Catholic Church should open all ministries to Women”.

The protestors appear to focus on the role the Minister played as Coordinator of the Repeal the 8th Amendment which was carried in May 2018. It is sad indeed that protestors are personalizing their disappointment at the role played by Minister Josepha Madigan in the referendum.

The meeting will now take place in a Dublin Southside Hotel on 11 February 2019.

Attached is the Mercy International Centre letter advising of their decision.
