Teresa Forcades i Vila, OSB was born in 1966. She is a Catalan physician and a Benedictine Nun. She studied medicine at the University of Barcelona. In 1992 she moved to the United States, where in 1995 she completed a residency at the University of Buffalo School of Medicine, specializing in internal medicine. After obtaining a scholarship, she moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she gained the degree of Master of Divinity from the Harvard Divinity School in 1997.
She is a social activist, focusing on public health. She has gained an international reputation for her criticisms of the pharmaceutical industry. She is also a controversial writer on pseudoscientific remedies, Christian feminism and Catalan Independence.
Teresa Forcades is not afraid of addressing the issues of the day. She addressed those who attended Greenbelt in the UK http://www.greenbelt.org.uk during the Summer.
